Make a Tabletop Fireplace for Your Party in 15 Minutes...

Give your party a little ambiance (fast!) by transforming a ceramic pot into a tabletop fire pit.

Conversation and drinks by the firelight — it doesn't get much better than that, right? Well, this might get a little better, since this DIY doubles as a centerpiece and can be put together in under 15 minutes. Ladies and gentlemen, I present The tabletop fire pit. Here's how to make your own.

Materials Needed

• large ceramic planter
• lava rocks
• 3 2.8 ounce gel fuel cans, plus more to refill the fire pit
• long-handled lighter

Instructions

Give your table the ambiance of a fire pit in a manageable size. First up: Choose your planter. Find a ceramic pot that matches your party's theme. We went with a free-form blue design to go with our party's bohemian vibe.



Next, fill a large decorative ceramic planter three-quarters of the way full with lava rocks. Place closed gel fuel cans on top of the rocks. Fill the rest of the pot with rocks, placing them around the cans. Place in the center of your table.

When you're ready to party, carefully remove lids and light with a long-handled lighter for almost-instant party ambiance.

The fire pit will burn an hour and a half to two hours. Allow to cool to the touch before replacing the gel fuel cans and re-lighting.
