Add Sparkle and Shine to Shelves
Hi Friends,
Glass, crystal and silver objects make shelf arrangements literally shine. A mirror placed at the back or bottom of a shelf will double the visual effect of the objects placed in front or on top, says Nancy. Rather than hiding the family silver in a dining cabinet, Mary Carol urges to pull it out, shine it up and display it on open shelves: either as a collection or by using individual pieces paired with rougher objects for contrast and interest. "I love the shine of silver next to a more primitive piece," she says.

Happy President's Day!
Hi Friends,
We wanted to share this poem about our leaders who put pride in Red, White & Blue.
Our Presidents
by Winifred Sackville Stoner, Jr.
George Washington, Adams and Jefferson three
First rulers of Uncle Sam’s land of the free:
Then Madison, Monroe and Adams again
All clever and upright and good honest men;
The Jackson, Van Buren and Harrison first,
Tyler and Polk whose terms were so curst
By war with the Mexicans who lost in the fray -
Then Taylor and Fillmore and Pierce held their sway.
Buchanan and Lincoln, Johnson and Grant,
Then Hayes, martyred Garfield, despiser of cant,
Arthur and Cleveland, Harrison (Ben)
McKinley the martyr, beloved by all men;
Then most energetic and strenuous Teddy
And plump William Taft for a second term ready
When Wilson was placed in this nation’s great chair
And promised to always rule wisely and fair.
Happy President's Day from your friends at Interior Design!

Casual Elegance
By Kayla Kitts
Hi Friends,
Tuscan design celebrates its simple luxury and at-home feel through this warm kitchen. A low, cove-vaulted brick ceiling, hex terra-cotta flooring and rustic sage cabinetry in this kitchen deliver natural warmth while comfortably enclosing the space for an intimate feel. Designer Lori Venners incorporated notable Tuscan themes by displaying copper pots, vases and a dramatic wrought iron chandelier above the island. In Italy, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and this Western-Italian representation elegantly mirrors the designs found among the Tuscan countryside. Architecture by Thom Oppelt. Happy Valentine's Day!
Dear Friends,
We wanted to share this poem with you on this special day in all our lives. Please feel free to share it with someone special to you too.
Valentine Treasures
Valentine treasures are people who
have often crossed your mind,
family, friends and others, too,
who in your life have shined
the warmth of love or a spark of light
that makes you remember them;
no matter how long since you’ve actually met,
each one is a luminous gem,
who gleams and glows in your memory,
bringing special pleasures,
and that’s why this Valentine comes to you:
You’re one of those sparkling treasures!

Energetic Flow
By Kayla Kitts
Hi Friends,
Designer Marie Burgos creatively integrated the Chinese practice of Zen into this living room and yoga space. "Openness and light are the basis of this Zen design, which was created to enhance the auspicious flow of energy, calmness and comfort," she says. Natural, eco-friendly elements, including the bamboo wooden table, traditional Japanese tatami mats and Asian artwork, help create balance and harmony in the space. By carefully choosing furniture and accessories, you can bring a natural, feng shui feel to your home.
