Sophisticated Gender-Neutral Nursery for Twins

Courtesy of HGTV

Hi Friends,

Pink for a girl or blue for a boy, right? But what do you do when you're having one of each? The expectant parents choose light green for the walls because it's a calming, gender-neutral color that doesn't have any stereotypes associated with it.

Once it's on the walls, though, it seems too bright, so host Jane Lockhart tones it down and adds a fun texture by taping broad stripes along the wall and applying a glaze to alternating stripes. Because babies spend a lot of time in their cribs looking up, the ceiling is painted a sunny yellow. When painting a stippled ceiling the first time, use an oil-based paint. It acts like a sealant and keeps the stipple from pulling off.

Next, carpeting is replaced with hardwood floors, which attract fewer allergens and bacteria. White wooden valances are built for the windows, and deep blue shades are hung. For a finishing touch, the babies' names, Max and Lucie, are stenciled onto the valances.

Did You Know? Green is the most popular color for nurseries. Yellow ceilings reflect more light and make a room feel brighter.

Multi-Kid & Multipurpose

By H. Camille Smith

Hi Friends,

Designer Erica Islas created a kids' space that combines nap time and playtime with dual, loft-style beds above a no-adults-allowed play area where toys can be stashed out of sight. Steps leading up to the beds serve dual purpose as hidden drawers.

Spa Master Bath

Courtesy of Gregory Augustine

Hi Friends,

This master bath was detailed with beige limestone, white fixtures and chrome accents to create a spa-like feeling for everyday use. The starkness of the materials is diluted by an Asian antique bench and a carved panel from Bali hanging above the tub. The candleholder behind the tub was custom made of reclaimed lumber from an old barn.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th Friends,

I live a wonderful, prosperous life here in America. Unfortunately, there were times my mind was closed but fortunately, enlightened, as well. I have felt the pain of loss, and the exuberance of winning. I have had relationships go bad, and have started up wonderful new ones. I am an American, and thankful every day that I was born into the abundance that is America.

How fortunate am I to have the medium available to me to be able to express this to you, as well as, receive messages from friends and loved ones, in the peace and tranquility that America is today. We are truly blessed.

Happy Birthday America. I for one, am proud to say I Am An American.

Enjoy this Independence Day in the warmth of home, the love of family and the company of good friends...

Have a good one from your friends at Interior Desgin!

Hi Friends,

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American Dream.

The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. Through the Internet we are learning about and communicating with people of different nations, with different languages and different races throughout the world. Bringing the world closer with understanding and knowledge can only benefit all nations.

We invite all nations to celebrate with Americans online this Fourth of July.

Happy Birthday, America! I for one, am proud to say I Am An American.

Have a good one and a great 4th!
