Free, Printable Halloween Scavenger Hunts

Hi Friends,

Spirit away boredom this Halloween with the interactive, indoor and outdoor Halloween scavenger hunts you can download and print at home for free.

Looking to scare up some fun for the whole family this Halloween? We created two free, printable Halloween scavenger hunts that are perfect for kids of all ages. The first is a neighborhood scavenger hunt that's great to use while trick-or-treating, in the car while checking out Halloween decorations or any time you want to encourage kids to get outside during the month of October. The second is a great indoor Halloween activity that encourages kids to use their detective skills to hunt for fun, interactive clues stashed around the house, culminating in a prize of your choosing.

Indoor Halloween Scavenger Hunt Instructions

Spiders, mummies and ghosts — oh my! the free, printable Halloween treasure hunt sends kids on a harrowing journey around the house to gather clues and find hidden treats. To play, download and print the scavenger hunt page, then cut out each clue along the dotted lines. Hide all clues (except for the first one) in the location previous to the one listed. For example, if clue #2 is hidden beneath a chair and leads to the front door, the next clue (that is taped to the front door) will lead to the kitchen sink, and so on.

The clues are purposefully generic and some are open to interpretation depending on the layout of your house. You can even leave some clues out or change up the order if you like. Tape pieces of candy or small Halloween trinkets to some of the clues to keep kids excited for the grand prize at the end. This particular hunt ends in the refrigerator, so make sure the final prize is fridge-friendly.

Outdoor Halloween Scavenger Hunt Instructions

All you need for this fun outdoor activity is a printed copy of the neighborhood scavenger hunt and a pen or pencil to cross off the listed Halloween decorations as you spot them. This game is a great way to keep kids busy in the car on the way to school during the month of October — whoever spots the most decorations before you hit the drop-off line wins! You can also use the game as a fun excuse to hit the road on a sunny fall day and check out Halloween decorations around town. Once all items are found, you can break for lunch or head to the pumpkin patch for an afternoon of more fall fun.
Or, you can turn this outdoor scavenger hunt into a fun game that kids and parents can play around the neighborhood. Simply print off a sheet for each child (or child/parent team) and set out on foot to find as many of the items as possible. The first player or team to return home with all the circles crossed out wins.
