Courtesy of Cristina Bird
Hi Friends,
Getting married? Get crafty! You can save money and add personal touches to your celebration with these romantic DIY wedding ideas. We've got you covered with recipes, craft tutorials and free printables.
Love in Bloom
Add a personal touch to your special day with these simple DIY wedding ideas. Your romantic occasion will bloom with seasonal style and beautiful handmade details.
Save the Dates (With a Surprise!)
For a clever twist on the floral theme, turn seed packets into your Save the Dates. Simply print these seed packet templates, cut out and fill with your favorite flower seed variety. The best part is that long after the wedding, your guests will have beautiful blooms as a memory of your big day.
Dainty DIY Stationery
These printable wedding invitations, RSVP cards, envelope seal tags and patterned scrapbook paper will help you create a bespoke wedding stationery suite at the click of a button. Download the templates, add your own text with the help of word processing software, and embellish to your heart's content to make it your own. For the matching envelope liners, measure your open envelope flap and cut an inch-smaller shape out of scrapbook paper. Then affix to the inside of each envelope using double-sided tape.
Romantic Tablescape
When styling your wedding reception tables, go for a less-is-more approach and let your creative DIY details shine. A pastel-pink tablecloth provides the perfect canvas for a striking tablescape, complete with DIY tea candles, crafty table numbers and fresh blooms.
All That Shimmers
A touch of gold adds luxury and helps elevate the ensemble of more casual pieces on display. The hint of shimmer is carried through the tableware, flatware and napkin rings, which were made by wrapping gold crepe paper and pink satin ribbon around a crisp white linen napkin.
This Must Be the Place
The place cards are as easy to make as they are pretty. Add your text to these printable tags using word processing software and secure them to pieces of pink satin ribbon using hot glue or double-sided tape.
Simply Delicious
Fuss-free and fresh-looking, these printable menu cards are delightful when displayed atop each table. printable menu cards, then add your own text using word processing software.
Take It Up a Level
Pink-hued gift boxes add various display levels to your table centerpiece and make things a little more interesting to the eye. Just make sure the displays act as a table embellishment and don't obstruct the view. Add a satin bow or ribbon to soften the look.
Fabulous Frames
The table number displays are doing double duty as wedding keepsakes, which means you're getting more mileage out of your decor. This inexpensive idea consists of spray-painting a ceramic candleholder pink and gluing it to a vintage saucer. The printable table numbers are then framed using gold crepe paper and secured on top of the stands with hot glue. (After the reception, you can easily pull them apart and reuse the stands and frames around the home.)
Be Your Own Florist
You don't need to take a master class in flower arranging to create a beautiful floral display. Simply gather a variety of your favorite blooms inside vintage urns, Mason jars or vases of the same color and style, but of different heights. (Flea market finds and heirloom pieces are ideal.) Want to re-create this look? Use roses and peonies with inexpensive carnations in bulk to fill in the gaps.
Don't Forget the Groomsmen
Floral trims can also festoon invitations, favors, menus — even your groomsmen. Turn any blooms that did not make it into the centerpieces into unique boutonnieres. Just wrap them in floral tape and cover the tape with a double-satin pink ribbon.
Crepe-Paper Flower BouqueXT

Not all floral arrangements need to be made of fresh blooms. Paper flowers are an inexpensive, long-lasting alternative and can complement your real flower displays beautifully. They're perfect in bouquets for your bridesmaids and flower girls. What a gorgeous memento of the day!
Go for the Glow

Warm up the table with glowing tea lights. These DIY votive candles were made by pouring "melt-and-pour" wax into vintage pink teacups from flea markets. They're as functional as they are attractive, and provide a fabulous keepsake for you or your guests after the reception.
Place-Card Favors
These printable favor boxes make a charming addition to each place setting. They come with printable favor tags that read "A Gift For You," so you can fill them with the traditional wedding dragées candy, or fill them with more personal gifts and messages tailored to each of your guests.
Cue the Confetti
Adorn reception chairs with DIY paper cones filled with confetti (or rose petals, as shown here) that guests can use to shower the bride and groom as they leave for their honeymoon.
Easy Homemade Wedding Cake
The wedding cake is the centerpiece and sweet ending note of any wedding reception. Making your own can sound like a daunting task, but even the most basic cake can look professionally made when accentuated with beautiful edible blooms. All it takes is a little frosting to adhere your flower decoration to the cake in a cascading fashion for a dramatic look.
Sweet & Simple Dessert Buffet

Dessert buffets are a popular trend at weddings, and creating your own sweets setup is more manageable than you might think. The key is to stick to the same color palette as your reception, but play with different heights and textures. A mixture of store-bought confections can sit happily beside your homemade delights in clear glass domes and display pedestals. Here, desserts and candies in varying hues of pink are featured throughout the table for a unified look.
Know Your Candy
No dessert table is complete without buffet labels. Continuing the theme of the reception place cards, these candy-jar labels were created using printable tags. The tags are secured to a length of satin ribbon, and then affixed to the candy jars using glue dots.
Bejeweled Truffles
These homemade morsels are almost too pretty to eat (almost). The bejeweled effect is achieved by rolling the truffles in pink sugar pearls. Each truffle is topped with a sugar-paste rose made with a flexible fondant mold.
Vanilla Bean Rose Cookies
Cookies are another delicious, homemade addition to the dessert table. Vanilla bean sugar cookies are adorned with a swirl of pink cream cheese frosting to emulate the theme of the day: the beautiful rose.
Sweets for Later
Give your guests small patisserie boxes for takeaway cake or midnight treats. Embellish each box with a sweet printable tag and ribbon to match. Don't forget to provide candy scoops so guests can help themselves.
Signature Cocktail
A bar or drinks station is a must-have for any wedding reception. The bar area is, by definition, a fun place to hang out, and gives you a little leeway to inject more casual elements into your decor. A piece of vintage furniture or a table can be repurposed as a display unit for the occasion. It's also the best place to serve the couple's signature cocktail. This self-service glass dispenser is filled with pink Rose & Cardamom Cocktail garnished with rose petals.
Darling Details
Champagne flutes are displayed inside a vintage bottle crate (a great flea market find) and decorated with printable scrapbook paper. Striped paper straws also get dressed up for the occasion with a ribbon flag and paper rosebud accent (from craft stores) — all in keeping with the pretty and romantic theme of the day.
A Toast to the Happy Couple
Miniature pink champagne bottles are a hit at the bar, and can be cute, adult-friendly favors, too. Wrap each bottle with a rectangle of printable scrapbook paper and add a personalized tag to the front. Just download these templates and add your text using word processing software.
Sweetly Ever After
Send your guests home with a final sweet reminder of the day. Wrapped in gold crepe paper and custom candy bar wrappers, any store-bought chocolate bar will make an elegant gift. Remove the outer wrapper, and cover the bar in gold crepe paper. Then wrap these printable wrappers around the bar and secure with double-sided tape at the back. Embellish with a paper rosebud (from craft stores).
